Nike uses the swoosh symbol in its logo. But for those who don’t know about swoosh, its just a tick mark. V for victory is past. For brands V represents tick mark sign.

VeriSign uses the first letter V itself as tick mark, US Telecom major Verizon has a different tick design. Yes Bank, an Indian brand, also uses tick in its logo.
