Countdown during ad break

Making people not to change channels during the ad break is not easy for the advertisers in these days where even a mobile phone can act as a remote control. Some TV channels are making their job even more difficult.

I’ve seen UTV Movies running a countdown ticker sometimes in the middle of the commercial break – “UTV Movies will Resume In 60 seconds” – alerting viewers about the exact time their programme will resume again.

Yes, viewers would love this option as they can switch channels and come back straight to their programme not missing a second. But is it fair for the TV channels who get lakhs from the advertisers for a 10 second spot to make it easy for the viewers to skip the ads?
