IPL counter starts ticking in Sony Max and the promotional activities for DLF IPL T20 season 3 are increasing day by day. And that creates anxiety and fear about the future. To whom? Indian parents!
IPL 3 matches are scheduled to be played from 12th March to 25th April 2010 in India. Some of the matches will clash with the crucial SSLC and Plus two exams of CBSE and many State boards. Not only the public exams matter, annual exams for other classes will also usually be in the late March to early April.
Students can’t just watch the match for 20-30 minutes to relax and continue with the studies, as it will be difficult to concentrate once you start following a T20 match. So I don’t think many parents will let their school children watch IPL close to the exam days,
Will it negatively affect the TRPs of IPL season 3? May be, we’ve to wait and watch. But the organizers don’t need to worry even if the TRP dips for a week or two, as it helps IPL in the long term to have successful students who can consume all their new initiatives like 3D cricket in theatres, IPL Cafe/bars.
Education is insurance, says the Mumbai Indian, Sachin Tendulkar in the Aviva ad. True, may be IPL can add one more campaign to their promotional series, urging students to study well and watch the IPL once the exams are over!
